We all hope that we and our loved ones don’t end up in nursing homes, but the reality is that for some people, that kind of care is absolutely necessary. What most people don’t know is that even if we have Medicare and Social Security, it probably won’t be enough to pay for our presence in a nursing home.

That is where Medicaid steps in. It is Medicaid that picks up the slack. But the BBB is cutting Medicaid by $880 Billion over the next 10 years. That will throw all but the most well-off patients out of full time nursing care, putting a burden on their families, and in some cases resulting in elderly people living homeless on the streets.

Perhaps, though, you have enough money to pay for your care. It won’t matter. There just aren’t enough people able to pay their way to keep nursing homes open.

And don’t forget, nursing homes create jobs in this county. What if those people can’t find work?
